Pilates is a body conditioning routine that helps build flexibility and long, lean muscles, strength and endurance in the legs, abdominals, arms, hips, and back. It puts emphasis on spinal and pelvic alignment, breathing to relieve stress and allow adequate oxygen flow to muscles, developing a strong core or center (tones abdominals while strengthening the back), and improving coordination and balance.

Pilates’ flexible system allows for different exercises to be modified in range of difficulty from beginning to advanced. Intensity can be increased over time as the body conditions and adapts to the exercise.

If you are looking to lose weight, burn some calories, and get a gentle, easy to follow workout, Bodyamma body shape is for you.

Shape Fitness exercises training uses a variety of specialized equipment to target specific muscle groups and types of movement.

Each routine includes a warm up, some low impact aerobics and lots of great toning exercises especially for those all important pelvic floors and finishes with a really good stretch and relaxation section.

PREGNANCY PILATES

The workouts were designed to help you stay fit and healthy throughout your pregnancy.
Get ready to strengthen your lower body and get toned, firm thighs and buns- even as your belly continues to get bigger.

Doing regular pilates will help to:

Reduces back pain, by exercising the deepest tummy muscles that stabilise your back and pelvis. Weak muscles can lead to back or pelvic pain.

Strengthen your pelvic floor, which will help to support your bowel, bladder and uterus (womb) as your baby grows and moves down. This may prevent you from leaking small amounts of wee when you cough or sneeze.

Takes the strain off your back and pelvis, by using positions such as going on your hands and knees, which is a great position for pregnancy. Towards the end of your pregnancy, it may also help to get your baby into the right position for birth.

Relax and control your breathing, which is important for pregnancy and labour.
Reduces stress, anxiety, and insomnia, imparting an overall improvement in sleeping patterns, possibly lowering risk for depression.

*Pregnancy Pilates should only be commenced after Week 12 of your pregnancy.

 

Bodyamma classes are kept to a maximum of 4 mothers so that we can offer individual attention and hands-on correction to all participants.
